Angola Records Slight Dip in Oil Output for July Amidst Market Pressures

Angola’s crude oil output in July 2025 totaled 30.96 million barrels, averaging 998,757 barrels per day about 7% below the 1,073,542 bpd that the National Oil, Gas, and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) had forecast. This marks the first dip below the 1 million bpd mark since the country left OPEC in 2023.

In the same month, two offshore projects, Begonia (Block 17/06) and CLOV Phase 3 began operations, each tied back to existing FPSO infrastructure and together expected to add approximately 60,000 barrels per day.

Additionally, Azule Energy, jointly with ANPG, announced the first oil from the Agogo FPSO on 29 July 2025 at the Agogo Integrated West Hub. The project estimates 450 million barrels in reserves, with a peak production potential of 175,000 bpd across the Agogo and Ndungu fields via two FPSOs.

Meanwhile, Oil and gas production volumes have not only lagged but are declining: Q2 2025 saw a 10.2% decrease in oil and gas output compared to Q2 2024, with average oil output hovering near 1 million bpd, a reflection of long-standing structural challenges.

To address the shortfall, ANPG projects that several additional key projects including Agogo full field, Begonia, CLOV, Greater Infills, Plutonium, and KARI will come online through 2025 - 2027, helping sustain production above 1 million bpd.
