Angola Oil Production Holds Slightly Above 1.0 Million BPD in February 2026

– Angola’s oil production for the month of February was 28,156,157 barrels, corresponding to a daily average of 1,005,577 barrels of oil per day (BOPD), against the 1,029,936 BOPD originally forecasted. Associated gas production during the same period was 72,306 million cubic feet, corresponding to a daily average of 2,582 million cubic feet (MMSCFD). Of this total, 1,222 MMSCFD were reinjected for reservoir pressure maintenance, 928 MMSCFD were made available to the ALNG plant, and 315 MMSCFD were used for power generation at oil facilities.

The ALNG plant produced 4,212,515 barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) against the 4,373,068 BOE forecasted, representing a 3.7% reduction and a daily average of 150,447 barrels of oil equivalent (BOEPD). These were distributed as 128,652 BOEPD of LNG, 9,814 BOEPD of Propane, 7,135 BOEPD of Butane, and 4,846 BOEPD of Condensates.

In the Cabinda Association, LPG production was 212,188 barrels, corresponding to a daily average of 7,578 barrels, divided into Propane (4,368 barrels), Butane (2,859 barrels), and onshore LPG (351 barrels).

Total production of oil and LPG was 28,788,804 BOE, corresponding to a daily average of 1,028,172 BOE. The operational efficiency of the facilities was 87.44%, compared to the 89.41% initially planned.

For the period under review, Angola's liftings totaled 27,456,283 barrels, averaging 980,581 BOPD, against a forecast of 708,816 BOPD. The Concessionaire lifted 3,754,145 barrels (3,317,824 for export and 436,321 delivered to the refinery), representing 14% of the total liftings. Sonangol UNEP lifted 3,773,496 barrels (all exported), representing 14%, and Sonangol E.P. lifted 1,454,923 barrels (all exported), representing 5%. Of the total liftings, 27,019,962 barrels were for export and 436,321 barrels were delivered to the Luanda Refinery.

During February, twelve drilling units were active: one onshore rig (Ideco 350 in the FS/FST Associations), five shallow-water units (Jack Up Shelf Drilling Tenacious, SKD Jaya, tender, LWIV HAMAD EAGLE in Block 2, Jack Up Valaris V-144 in Block 1/14 (1), and SMS ESSA in Block 2/05), and six deep-water units (Valaris DS-9 in Block 15, Saipem 12K in Block 15/06, Sonangol Libongos and Valaris DS-7 in Block 15/06, West Gemini in Block 24, and Sonangol Quenguela in Block 32).

Work was performed on 23 wells: four intervention operations on producing wells (two completed), 14 drilling/completion operations on development wells (one producer completed, six suspended, and seven in progress), and one exploration well in progress. Additionally, there were four intervention wells and four abandonment wells, totaling 16,604 meters drilled.
